Article IV. HOUSE MOVING |
Division 1. GENERALLY |
§ 9-134. General requirements.
Where a structure is moved along public thoroughfares within the city, the following provisions and regulations shall apply:
(1)
Warning lights. If such structure during the process of being moved is left on the streets of the city after dark, there shall be displayed thereon one (1) red light at each corner of the building and one (1) red light in the middle of each side of the building.
(2)
Zoning regulations to be followed. In no case shall any building be moved from location to location within the city limits of the city or from out of the limits of the city into the limits of city in any restricted area wherein and whereby the same would violate any restrictions of the zoning ordinances of the city.
(3)
Regulations pertaining to buildings exceeding specified size. All movements of buildings exceeding two hundred forty (240) square feet in size and moving within the city shall be escorted by a uniformed police officer, in a clearly marked police vehicle, and subject to the following regulations:

The applicant shall furnish a written route of movement together with date and time of movement to chief of police for approval.
b.
In case the moving of the building along the designated route necessitates the moving or raising of utility lines, the applicant shall make arrangements with utility companies for such raising and furnish evidence to the building inspector that such arrangements have been made.
(4)
Arrangements with utility companies. When a building exceeds twenty (20) feet in height (measured when loaded for moving), written evidence of arrangements with the affected utility companies shall be attached to the written route of movement furnished the chief of police.
(5)
Out of state contractors. If the house-moving contractor is not a state corporation, or a corporation authorized to do business in the state, such contractor shall file with the building inspector a certificate naming the clerk of the circuit court of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, in and for Broward County, Florida, as agent upon whom service of summons can be effected.
