§ 6-14. Report of bites to county health department.
(a)
Every instance in which a person is bitten, scratched by the teeth, or otherwise wounded by an animal, domestic or wild, or every instance in which a person has handled an animal either known or suspected of carrying an infectious disease shall be reported promptly to the county health officer.
(b)
Any animal or fowl reported to have bitten a person shall be kept in quarantine for such period of time and at such a place as may be designated by the county health officer for the purpose of testing such animal or fowl for disease. Any animal suspected of being infected with rabies shall be released by its owner or custodian to the county health officer or rabies control officer for the purpose of observation. No liability for compensation to the owner of such animal shall attach to the city by virtue of any procedure by the county health officer or county rabies control department.
